Description:

This course is designed to go over the basics of geographic information system (GIS) mapping, asset management and how it can help small systems plan for future needs.Technology has advanced in ways that make it much easier for small, rural, and tribal utilities to map their infrastructure, use that location data to quickly and easily organize service delivery, and coordinate operation and maintenance of their infrastructure in an affordable and effective way.

Attendees will learn the five components of asset management and how GIS technologies can assist with the planning process. Attendees will take the conceptual knowledge gained and learn how they can apply these concepts with interactive mapping software. We will explain how operators can use this technology to more efficiently manage and plan for their drinking water and wastewater systems..
