Description:
If you are looking for a way to conduct board meetings in a professional and organized way and are wondering how to conduct and hold a board meeting this workshop is for you. This workshop is for new and seasoned governing members. The conducting board meeting workshop will go through all the details that should be included in preparing for each board meeting and the steps that should be included in the agenda of the meeting. Understanding the specific items on the agenda of a board meeting, why they are there and when to use them is important. It is also important to know how to conduct a board meeting in a professional manner and what to expect from all the participants. This knowledge will help the utility hold professional meetings, being respectful of the time it takes to conduct the business of the utility and be given tips to keep the structure of the board meeting on track so that the meeting is producing effective results.
In this workshop participants will gain insight on:
· Board practices that can help governing boards stay informed and respond proactively
· How and when to use Executive Sessions
· How to put together an effective and relevant agenda
· How to include the public and creating rules that include the public but do not limit the process of the board meeting
· The importance of including the system operator in the board meetings
This workshop is recommended for system managers, new or existing Governance members, as well as those considering serving on a utility governance.
