Description:
System Design | Day 1
Learn the basic concepts of water use and design, including variations in demand and peaking factors; types of water systems as classified by their source water; typical types of distribution system layouts and the advantages and disadvantages of each; proper sizing of water main and placement of valves; impact of fire flow requirements with an emphasis on small system; and typical desired pressure.
Water Storage | Day 1
Learn the purposes and benefits of adequate water storage; common types/configurations of storage facilities; common features/accessories for storage tanks; coatings and cathodic protection; cold weather operation; tank disinfection, inspection, and safety/security.
Water Mains | Day 2
Learn trench preparation, pipe laying and joining procedures, backfilling and compaction; trench depths, widths unusual conditions such as rock or high-water table; trenching and excavation safety, cave-in protection methods, competent person duties; connection to existing mains using tees or sleeves; pressure tapping.
Distribution Operations | Day 2
Learn the basic concepts of maintaining water quality. Attendees will learn and demonstrate knowledge of water quality monitoring and system design for water quality enhancement.

Registration:
The registration link will register you to attend both days of the series.
To receive contact hours for online workshops, each person must be registered with their own email address. An evaluation at the end of the training is also required.
Are you attending as a group, but not watching from your own computer?
Attendees do not need to participate from their own computer/device for the online trainings. Each attendee will be required to register and complete an evaluation to verify their participation. Prior to session start, a Group Leader will need to inform RCAC (registration@rcac.org) which attendees will view the sessions together. Following the training an evaluation is sent to the Group Lead who will be responsible for sharing it with each attendee in the group.
