The Water Treatment 2-Day Series training will be held on the following dates and times:

August 26 | 9:00AM-1:30PM | Day 1 | Lunch 11:30AM-12:00PM

August 27 | 9:00AM-1:30PM | Day 2 | Lunch 11:30AM-12:00PM

These trainings are being held in Mountain Time.

Description:

Microbiology | Day 1
To learn basic concepts of maintaining water quality. Students will learn and demonstrate knowledge of water quality monitoring and system design for water quality enhancement. 

Surface Water Treatment | Day 1
To learn basics of water supply hydrology, groundwater, and surface water sources. Introduction to water treatment. Operators will learn the concept and effects of the hydrologic cycle. To learn the basics of surface water characteristics and the influences caused by pollution and contaminates to streams, rivers, lakes and reservoirs. Algae control and other aquatic problems will be discussed in the session. 

Pre-treatment | Day 1
To learn basics of preliminary treatment and the removal of large amounts of debris from the raw water source prior to entering the treatment facility. These processes include screening, pre-sedimentation, microstraining and preoxidation. 

Coagulation/Flocculation | Day 1
To learn basics of conventional treatment described by rapidly mixing coagulants with suspended particles and slowly creating a settle able floc. Coagulate chemicals and feed equipment used in this procedure. 

Disinfection | Day 2
To learn chlorine reactions in water and relationship of dose, demand, and residual; breakpoint chlorination; characteristics of chlorine in its various forms; chlorine feed equipment; gas systems and hypo-chlorinators and their components; the importance of C x T values in relation to SWTR; and chlorine and the potential for DBP formation. To learn basic arithmetic concepts related to disinfection math. Students will learn and demonstrate foundational knowledge of chlorine dosing in a water treatment system. 

Sedimentation | Day 2
To learn the process of clarification, the setting out of solids after flocculation. Performance goals for the sedimentation process using the sampling of the influent and effluent water at regular intervals and learn to use the results to calculate optimum efficiency. 

Filtration | Day 2
To learn the common practices of removing suspended particles after using filter media and biological treatment with both pressure and gravity.

Water Treatment 2-Day Series is a free training to attend.

The registration link will register you to attend both days of the series.

To receive contact hours for online workshops, each person must be registered with their own email address. An evaluation at the end of the training is also required.

Are you attending as a group, but not watching from your own computer?

Attendees do not need to participate from their own computer/device for the online trainings. Each attendee will be required to register and complete an evaluation to verify their participation. Prior to session start, a Group Leader will need to inform RCAC (registration@rcac.org) which attendees will view the sessions together. Following the training an evaluation is sent to the Group Lead who will be responsible for sharing it with each attendee in the group.
