The Mechanical Systems 2-Day Series training will be held on the following dates and times:

August 30 9:00AM-1:30PM | Day 2 | Lunch 11:30AM-12:00PM

Description:

Fire Hydrants | Day 1
To learn basic potential piping system problems when using fire hydrants; main hydrant types; hydrant installations, procedures, and precautions; and hydrant repair and fire flow testing.

System Hydraulics | Day 1
To learn concepts of static versus dynamic conditions, pressure head, elevation head, velocity head and the hydraulic grade line.

Pumps & Motors | Day 2
To learn common motor control types, including gasoline, diesel, and gas engines; characteristics of centrifugal and turbine pumps; Radial, axial, and mixed flow designs; vertical turbine pumps and common uses; positive displacement pumps; pump operating tips and precautions: starting, stopping, flow control, water hammer; mechanical details of pumps: impellers, casing, bearings, seals, etc.

Wire to Water Horsepower | Day 2
To learn the basics on reading a pump curve, water hydraulics, and pressures, determining water, break and motor horsepower, also understand Hazen-Williams nomograph factors for defining friction loss.

Valves | Day 2
To learn common valve types used in piping distribution systems and their functions. Students will focus on pressure relief, air and vacuum, pinch, rotary/plug, butterfly, check valves; and Valve operation-manual and automatic, boxes, and importance of valve location records.

Mechanical Systems 2-Day Series is a free training to attend.

 

Registration:

The registration link will register you to attend both days of the series.

 

To receive contact hours for online workshops, each person must be registered with their own email address. An evaluation at the end of the training is also required.

 

Are you attending as a group, but not watching from your own computer?

Attendees do not need to participate from their own computer/device for the online trainings. Each attendee will be required to register and complete an evaluation to verify their participation. Prior to session start, a Group Leader will need to inform RCAC (registration@rcac.org) which attendees will view the sessions together. Following the training an evaluation is sent to the Group Lead who will be responsible for sharing it with each attendee in the group.
