Description:
We are inviting you to join us on February 27 and learn about the California Technical
Assistance Providers (CalTAP) programs. These programs are funded by the California
State Water Resources Control Board in order to provide various resources and tools
for public water systems throughout California.
The services offered includes onsite technical assistance and free workshops, as well as other resources. The morning session will include an introduction to the CalTAP providers, services provided or offered and a regulatory update for public water systems. The afternoon sessions will consist of two different tracks designed to assist the public water system professional.
Track 1: Cross Connection Controls
The California Water Board has begun implementing the new Cross Connection
Control Policy Handbook (CCCPH) in July of this year. The objective of this handbook
is the protection of public health through the establishment of policies and standards
by public water systems to ensure that systems will not be subject to the backflow of
liquids, gases, or other substances into the distribution system. This learning event
will provide an overview of the proposed requirements of the CCCPH and the effect
that it may have on a water system’s backflow control program.
Track 2: Operator Certification
This learning event will provide the information needed to prepare operators to
advance or begin their careers as water operators. We will be covering the DDW
OpCert program including what to expect with their computer testing program.
We will also inform attendees on how to achieve advanced levels of certification
through education and experience. Finally, the instructor will be providing practice
test questions for attendees to take home for distribution and treatment tests with a
strong emphasis on water math.
