Housing Counseling Bootcamp

 

Accreditation:

Classes do not qualify for CEUs/credits.

Certificate of completion for each class will be issued via email.

The Housing Counseling Bootcamp will be held on the following dates and times:

Tuesday, April 29 8:30AM - 4:30PM 

Wednesday, April 30 8:30AM -11:45PM 

These classes are being held in the Pacific Time Zone.


Description:

Join us at our West Sacramento corporate office for an immersive Housing Counseling Bootcamp on April 29th and 30th. This 2-day event is designed to equip housing counselors with the tools and insights they need to succeed.

This bootcamp offers networking opportunities with housing counselors across the region, providing a platform to exchange knowledge, share best practices, and foster collaboration. With a mix of focused class sessions and interactive discussions, attendees will gain valuable skills and enhance their understanding of critical housing counseling topics.

 

Courses:

·        Advanced Foreclosure: This course will guide counselors through the eviction and foreclosure processes so that they may assist their clients more effectively. It will help participants to have difficult conversations regarding these issues and become familiar with the paperwork involved.

 

·       Credit and Budget: This course will assist counselors to understand the credit issues that clients are dealing with and consumer-related protections. Participants will learn how to help their clients undertake the steps needed to repair their credit by providing accurate credit and budgeting information and guidance on making financial decisions.

Instructor:

Julie Chavez | CEO/Principal at TJ Group

Julie has been a faculty member and consultant for several organizations, including Rural Community Assistance Corporation (RCAC) since 2023, NeighborWorks America (NWA) since 2006, and UNIDOS US since 2018. She is also a contributing member of the National Community Reinvestment Coalition (NCRC) since 2014 and a financial capability instructor for Merrimack College - Girard School of Economics. Her areas of expertise include homeownership education and counseling, program management, real estate sales and rentals, property management, compliance with government regulations, and financial capability.

 

Meals:
Continental breakfast (coffee and pastries) will be provided each morning.

Lunch will be provided for event participants on Tuesday.

Scholarships:

RCAC will offer a scholarship to the first 15 people who register.

 

There is a limit of one scholarship per HUD approved agency. A scholarship award of up to $635.76 will be granted to the HUD approved agency to apply towards the cost of lodging, per diem and tuition for staff attending the Housing Counseling Bootcamp.

Please note, in order to be eligible for the scholarship you must be employed by a HUD approved agency, register, and pay the fees required as part of the registration process in advance. 

To be eligible for a scholarship you must stay at the lodging RCAC designated. To be eligible for a scholarship refund you must attend the full length of the Housing Counseling Bootcamp.

Scholarships will be issued to the HUD approved agency and NOT to the original form of payment. Scholarship refunds will be processed 30 days after the end of the event.

 

Fees:
There is a $125.00 dollar fee to attend the training.

 

Cancelations, Substitutions, and Reimbursement:
If you cannot attend the event, you may cancel your registration for full reimbursement or substitute an employee within your agency. All cancelations and/or substitutions must be made by March 29th, 2025. You will be responsible for altering travel and lodging arrangements.

 

Registration:
Registration cost includes 1 ½ days of classes, 1 lunch, 2 continental breakfasts, and a swag bag. All training materials are included and will be available via a USB drive.
