Accreditation:

The Washington On-Site Sewage Association will be awarding six Continuing Education Units to Washington State septic system professionals who attend this course.


Date & Time:

The Strategies for Addressing Onsite Difficult Sites for System Professionals Training will take place on the following dates and times. Attendance is required for both days. An optional third day is available for trainers.

Description for Solutions for Challenging Sites (2-Day Training):

This advanced course is designed for onsite system professionals with a foundational understanding of onsite wastewater treatment systems, including soil evaluation and system design. It focuses on providing solutions for new construction and teaches techniques for how to expand or repair failing onsite and decentralized wastewater systems.

 

Key topics include:
·       Wastewater contaminants
·       Management options
·       Differences between decentralized and onsite wastewater treatment systems

 

Participants will learn to:
·       Assess site limitations
·       Identify design challenges and develop viable solutions
·       Determine cost-effective options for site-specific constraints

 

By the end of the course, participants will have the skills to address site challenges and select appropriate treatment methods confidently.

 

The course features a blend of presentations, hands-on activities, and case studies to offer practical experience in:
·       Completing wastewater mass balances
·       Conducting site assessments
·       Refining wastewater characterizations

 

Participants will leave with the skills necessary to tackle the complexities of wastewater system design and the management of difficult sites.

 

Description for Train-the-Trainer (Optional 3rd Day):

Difficult Sites Train-the-Trainer

The purpose of this Train-the-Trainer (TTT) training is to provide technical assistant providers and onsite system professionals with the skills and strategies needed to inform and educate their peers options for new construction, expansion, or the repair of a failing onsite or decentralized wastewater treatment system when proposed on a difficult site.
